Tetristhe next original movie for Apple TV+, has already debuted at SXSW, and it appears that Taron Egerton He managed to conquer the public again with a true story, just as he did in 2019 with Rocket ManBiography of Elton John.
Tetris is a logic video game originally designed and programmed by Alexei Pazhitnov in the Soviet Union. It was released on June 6, 1984, while he was working at the Dorodintsyn Computing Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Its name is derived from the Greek numerical prefix tetra and from tennis, Pazhitnov’s favorite sport.
The film tells the incredible story of how one of the most popular video games on the planet reached enthusiastic gamers all over the world. Henk Rogers (Egerton) discovers Tetris In 1988, he risks it all by traveling to the Soviet Union, where he teams up with inventor Alexei Pajitinov (Nikita Efremov) to bring the game to the masses.

Awards Watch goes a bit further and calls the film “a visceral story that transcends tropes of political thrillers, dirty tangles of networks, and deceit, because at its core is a story about integrity and honesty, as we see Henk and Alexei — and even a few Russian allies — band together to do the right thing.”
Deadline reviews it as “just a riveting one, playing more like a Cold War-era international spy thriller than a guide to getting Russian video game rights.” Yes, that last sentence makes up the bones of this story, but I guarantee you’ll be on the edge of your seat, and out of Remarkably, they are all correct.”
ComicBook Resources finds a particular way to describe it, and to connect Tetris mix between Spies Bridge Meets Succession. Realizing “This may seem like an unexpected color fusion, but the stark difference between the two — and the different kinds of danger they represent — creates the perfect space for Henk of Egerton to both stumble and thrive on. Tetris tells a wild true story in a very interesting way, while maintaining the legal and political intrigues of the story Without falling into the quagmire. Rising high with a solid cast and good direction that knows when to be funny and when to get tense, Tetris is a winner.”
But it’s not all good news for the movie, as The Wrap finds some historical problems in the film Tetris: “The filmmakers are constantly fighting against their better impulses when trying to find deeper and/or period-specific meaning in their hagiographic dramas. Some of the light-hearted scenes set in and around Moscow try and fail to suggest what life was like in the Soviet Union.”
Tetris It is set to be released on March 31st.
